Deep Dive Guild

Our initial description of “Deep Dive” covers applied mathematics, analog/digital electronics, and engineering theory. The guild’s first lead is shaping the early direction around collaborative robotics (which is his primary interest) specifically, control algorithms for swarms of mobile robots. We already have an affordable, easy-to-build robot design (cost matters since we need many robots to create a meaningfully large swarm). To achieve this, we’ll dive into microcontroller programming, real-time operating systems, sensor processing and control circuit design.

To bring these concepts to life, we’ll work hands-on with 3D-printed robot designs and custom control circuits that process data from sensors including visible light, infrared, and inertial measurement units. This approach bridges theory with practical implementation, giving us a foundation to explore increasingly complex autonomous systems and experiment with emergent group behaviors and self-organizing systems.
